Bulletin 32 - 26 Mar 2020

Identifying COVID-19 at-risk Patients
Further to our first bulletin item yesterday regarding high-risk patients, NHS Digital has worked with the clinical system suppliers and added codes to identify COVID-19 at-risk patients. A clinical report/search is also available.

SystmOne – Y228a - High risk category for developing complication from COVID-19 infection
  • A system-wide patient status alert has been added to indicate when the code is present in the record (indicated by an orange 'At Risk' icon).
  • A system-wide report has been created to show all the patients with the code added - ‘High risk category for developing complications from COVID-19 infection’.
  • In the next few days the code will be added to the SCR inclusion set so that it will pass to the SCR automatically (except where a dissent to SCR exists).
  • When the next SNOMED release occurs the Y code will be linked to the SNOMED Code 1300561000000107 to support GP2GP transfer etc. (no further action will need to be taken by the practice to update codes). Please note: until that time any incoming GP2GP records with this term present will show as a degraded entry and manual recoding will be needed.
Also, please note that we’ve been made aware that the planned biannual release of the UK SNOMED CT Clinical Edition on 1 April will be replaced with a significantly smaller version in order to add COVID-19 content and a small amount of high priority concepts.

Remote Consultations
The BMJ has released a one-page quick guide to assessing patients by video or voice call, which you may find helpful.
Furthermore, if you need any support with AccuRx SMS or video consultations please see our G-Care page (‘non-clinical items’, ‘I.T. support/guidance for COVID-19’) or contact the SCW IT Training Administration Team on 0300 123 5678 / training.scwcsu@nhs.net.

Home Working, Windows Updates and VPN
Cyber security patching, phishing attempts and scams are rife at present. It is important that software updates continue to run as normal to protect the networks. The following steps should be taken to check for and install updates:
  • Click the Start button in the lower left corner of your device;
  • In the search box, type ‘Windows Update’, and then, in the list of results, click ‘Windows Update’;
  • Click the ‘Check for updates’ button;
  • Click ‘Install updates’ if any are available and they do not automatically install;
  • Please reboot your machines at least once a day to ensure smooth operation and timely installation of updates.
  • Please remember to log off overnight and when not using laptops to reduce pressure on the system.
Laptop Rollout Support Arrangements
Please send requests for support for the new remote working laptops to scwcsu.glosdt@nhs.net. All other IT requests and issues should be directed to Countywide IT Services by email (or if urgent, call 0300 422 2808).
