Remote Working - The CCG are supporting the move to remote working and would ask general practice to take the following steps:

Respond to the requests from the Primary Care Team on the equipment survey to identify gaps in equipment across the County

Identify laptops in your practice (every practice should have at least 2 laptops); test the laptops including VPN connection if enabled; and email the Primary Care team immediately if any laptops are not working or you have any issues. The CCG want to get these all resolved over the next week or so to ensure you have fully functional devices. The CCG have successfully ordered a significant number of laptops.

Ensure that you have a protocol in place for staff using non-NHS equipment at home (e.g. Away From My Desk).

  • Ensure your smartcard is in your computer in your consultation room, but that the consultation room is locked and the screen is not visible to anyone outside of the room (including external windows).
  • Ensure that there are people in your practice who know where the key is to unlock your room, should you need them to enter in order to remove and re-enter the smart card if you get locked out. Taking these pragmatic approaches will keep you safe in terms of IG requirements.
  • For those who do not currently have Away From My Desk installed, or are having problems, a guide will be sent to you shortly on how to install and CITS will be available to assist with any issues.
Ask your practice staff to minimise unnecessary internet use to maintain max bandwidth space available for those who are remote working.
